Straco
Corporation Limited ("SCL") was incorporated in Singapore in
April 2002 and was listed on the Mainboard of the Singapore
Exchange on 20 February 2004. Our major shareholders are
Straco Holding Pte Ltd and China Poly Group Corporation. SCL
is a leading developer and operator of tourism-related assets
in China.
SCL's key asset is Shanghai Ocean Aquarium
("SOA"). Built at a cost of US$50 million, it is one of the
largest indoor, closed systems aquariums in the world with a
total built-in area of 20,000 square metres and a designed
capacity of 21,000 visitors per day. The world-class
aquarium, situated in the Pudong New Area and next to
Shanghai's landmark Oriental Pearl Tower, showcases over
10,000 fishes and exotic marine creatures of over 450 aquatic
species from all over the world.
SCL also owns and operates Lixing cable-car
service at Mount Lishan in Lintong District, Shaanxi province.
With a total investment of US$5.2 million, it was the first
cable car service of international standard in China, with a
total distance of 1.44 kilometres. Lixing cable-car has been
in operations for more than 10 years, offering tourists a
panoramic view of the scenic Mount Lishan. |

SCL also owns the development rights for Chao
Yuan Ge ("CYG") on Mount Lishan. CYG is an integral part of
the grand "Hua Qing Palace". Its preliminary development
concept includes showcasing Tang-era culture and the
displaying of replicas of unique architectural structures from
the Tang Dynasty. One of the highlights of the CYG development
will include exhibits of relics that were unearthed on Lishan
Mountain.
In 2006, Straco Creation Pte Ltd ("SCPL") was
started as a joint venture company between SCL and Mr. Carlo
Clerico of the Clericos, the famous music-hall family that has
managed the Lido and Moulin Rouge in Paris for more than 60
years. SCPL's focus will be on the production and management
of artistic shows with its first production Paris
Plumes touring the Chinese cities of Shenzhen,
Guangzhou, Shanghai, Beijing between December 2007 and January
2008.
In 2007, the Group acquired Xiamen Underwater
World Co., Ltd. The aquarium, located on the scenic Gulangyu
Island, is a key tourist attraction of Xiamen City. The
aquarium with over 4 million litres of water capacity,
features marine animal performances and a display of a wide
array of fresh water and marine livestock.
Over the years, the Group has gained
recognition as a major investor and developer of premier
attractions and tourist related assets. The Group will
continue to target high quality tourism and entertainment
projects in China and in other regions to fuel its
growth. |
